This meeting is being organized as an online meeting on November 5-6th. The conference will include both faculty and student oral presentations, in topics that range across microbiology, as well as molecular and cellular biology. We will also have an afternoon dedicated to undergraduate and graduate student poster presentations and will award prizes for the best talks and posters in each category.

Registration
The Texas Branch-ASM Fall 2020 meeting will be free of charge. However, participants must register in order to receive connection details. Participants should register by November 1st in order to allow time for receipt of meeting information prior to the meeting date.
Submissions for student presentation abstracts (oral or poster) will close on October 23rd at 11:59pm. Final poster files must be received by October 29th at 11:59pm (see details in the Student Competition section below).

Student Competition
There will be four categories of student competition and awards. The categories will be at the Undergraduate and Graduate level, both for Posters and Oral Presentations. Please be sure to indicate on the form if you are an undergraduate or graduate student and if you would like to present your work as a poster or a 15-min talk. For consideration for awards, only one presenting author will be allowed.
We will accept Abstract submissions until October 23rd.
Abstract Information
Upload an abstract via the Abstract Submission Page. Before going to the submission page, you will need:
- Names and institutions of authors (a single presenting author must be selected)
- Title (200 characters maximum)
- Abstract body (2200 characters maximum)
Approval of all co-authors must be obtained before placing their names on an abstract.
Abstract must be well written and easy to understand with limited jargon.
Please indicate whether you are interested in a poster or an oral presentation. Student oral presentations will be limited to 15 minutes in length. Poster presentations will involve preparing a virtual poster and additional materials as detailed below. Poster presenters will be available to meet with the meeting participants and poster judges through Zoom during a designated 40-minute window of the poster session.

Poster Information
Posters will be electronic. After the abstract submission deadline, presenting authors will be sent an email with additional details that will be needed by the poster submission deadline (October 29th). Please plan ahead as there will be a short period for returning required information. You will need to prepare your poster as a single page PDF. Format the poster as you would for printing (typically a 3:4 or 4:3 ratio such as 36”H x 48”W or 48”H x 36”W). Presenting authors will also be asked to provide a 1-2 minute audio or video clip “elevator talk” about their poster. Each presenting author must also create a Zoom link for live presentation of their poster during the scheduled poster session (details on session time will be sent after Oct. 23rd). All files and information must be returned to the organizers by Oct. 29th.
